Bulldogs participate in North-South Showcase

SHOWCASE: Clinton Central freshman Addison Sheets, right, was one of three Bulldogs to participate in the Indiana Elite North-South Showcase on March 3 at Lebanon High School.

Clinton Central girls’ basketball players Jasmine Gomez, Addison Sheets and Kaitlyn Garcia played in the Indiana Elite North vs. South All-Star Showcase on March 3 at Lebanon High School.

Games were had two halves with a 30-minute running clock and were divided by school size and graduation year.

“Indiana Elite reached out to me and invited every player on my team who had a desire to play at the next level to be a part of the games,” Clinton Central head coach Nic Carothers said. “The girls not only got to play in front of 30-plus college coaches but with other players from across the state. Players are excited about this opportunity, making new friends, competing at a high level and gaining experience from some of the top coaches in the state. This opportunity is very big for players who are up-and-coming and undecided about where he or she is going to school. It gives them a level of exposure to a large number of coaches all at once.

“I was selected to coach four games this past weekend,” Carothers added. “As a coach, you have an opportunity to have a positive impact on a group of young ladies who are there because they love the game. Hopefully those young ladies leave not only with the necessary exposure to be offered a chance to continue playing basketball at the next level, but also take a little bit of your passion, love and knowledge of the game as a coach with them.”
