Ancestry Lock-in at FCPL is April 27

The Frankfort Community Public Library is holding an Ancestry Lock-in from 5-9 p.m. Friday, April 27, in the Earl J. Culver Genealogy Area.

Genealogy Coordinator Jill Garrison will be on hand to answer any questions and to assist participants in using Ancestry Library Edition. The public computers will be available for use, or researchers may bring their own laptops and connect to the Wi-Fi. The cost for the lock-in is $2. Normal printing fees will be waived.

Participants may bring supper or a snack to eat in Harry’s Coffee Bar when they need to take a break. The library closes at 5 p.m. so participants should arrive before that time.

FCivic Theatre offers $1,000 scholarship

Clinton County Civic Theatre scholarship applications are available at all Clinton County High Schools for graduating seniors who are enrolling in an accredited two or four-year college or university in a course of study that leads to entry in theatre or the performing arts. This includes but is not limited to theatre, television, music or radio/TV – either performing or production.

Interested seniors should see their counselor for more information and an application. CCCT has been offering scholarships for 23 years. Applications must be returned to the school counselor’s office no later than April 20.

Zonta offers $1,000 scholarship

The Zonta Club of Frankfort is now offering a $1,000 Career Advancement Scholarship to a qualifying woman residing in Clinton County, as part of the club mission to advance the status of women worldwide. The scholarship is to assist women in updating their skills in a vocational school or to assist in completing their post-secondary education in a college or university.

Applicants must be 19 years of age or older at the time of application and must have been admitted to or cleared for admission to an academic or vocational school that is licensed or accredited by the State of Indiana.

The postmark deadline for submitting an application is Tuesday, May 1. Application forms can be downloaded on the website, frankfortzonta.org, or obtained by contacting Jenny Neal, scholarship chairperson, at 765-279-8338.

Rossville Lions Club offers scholarships

The Rossville Lions Club will award five $1,000 scholarships to Rossville High School seniors. Applications for the scholarships are available at the office of the director of Student Services. 

CCSWCD recruiting volunteers to collect water samples

The Clinton County Soil and Water Conservation District is currently recruiting volunteers who will sample more than 50 stream sites from 1-4 p.m. Friday, April 13. The stream assessment will occur as part of the semi-annual Wabash River Enhancement Corporation’s annual Sampling Blitz and also includes streams in the South Fork Wildcat Watershed throughout Clinton County.

Each group of volunteers will be responsible for sample collection from four stream sites. Volunteers will then learn how to use test strips to measure different water quality parameters. Sampling equipment will be provided.

Marine Corps League offers scholarships

The Frankfort Detachment #967 of the Marine Corps League is offering $500 scholarships to direct descendants and adopted/stepchildren of United States Marinesand Navy Corpsmen who were honorably discharged or lost their life in the line of duty in service to the United States of America.

Candidates must be graduating from one of the four Clinton County high schools and have been accepted as a full-time student by an accredited college, university or trade school.

Applications can be obtained from the guidance counselors at each of the area high schools and are due, with supporting documentation, by April 20.

Frankfort Lions offer scholarships

The Frankfort Lions Club will award two $500 scholarships. Applications are available in the FHS student services office. The deadline for applications is May 9.
