City hold ADM CF-1 approval due to no-show

BY SHARON BARDONNER - sbardonner@ftimes.com

No one from Arthur Daniels Midland (ADM) attended the meeting of the Frankfort City Council Monday to discuss the company’s submission of its CF-1 paperwork necessary for the continuation of its tax abatement.

According to council member Lewis Wheeler, it was the second year in a row no one had appeared to represent the company.

“It would be nice if they sent someone to the council meeting,” said Council President Jim Moyer.

“I agree with Jim,” said Wheeler.

According to information published on the current abatements outstanding, ADM received a 7 year abatement that is now in its last year. The abatement amount, according to the auditor’s office, is $4,955,120, on equipment.

Council members agreed to require companies to report annually on the status of their projects as a condition of their abatement.

Regarding ADM, in particular, approval of the CF-1 was tabled until the council meeting on April 23 and the mayor’s office is to issue a request to ADM to have someone appear on the company’s behalf.
