Summer Reading, films, and Storytime Cooking Class

SUMMER READING: Library staff members Kate McCormick and Rachel Milburn pose with their daughters at the Summer Reading Kick-off party

Summer Reading is in full swing at the library, and this year’s theme is Libraries Rock!

Readers of all ages can earn points and win prizes by reading, attending library programs, and volunteering in the community. Stop by the Frankfort Library or your local branch to learn more about Summer Reading.

Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed our Kick-off Party on June 1. We hope you all had a great time jumping in the bouncy house and dunking the library director in the dunk tank! Thank you to Ben Pfeffer for sharing his beautiful vintage fire truck with us for the day, and also Mike Strange’s Party Rentals, and WILO for coming out and broadcasting the party.

Classic film lovers will be excited to hear we will show “Bringing Up Baby” in the Skanta Theatre on Saturday, June 23, at 1 p.m. “Bringing Up Baby” was released in 1938, stars Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant, and was directed by Howard Hawks.

This is a free event, and popcorn and water will be served.

Coming up, there are still spots available in the Storytime Cooking Class at the Frankfort Library on Monday, June 25. Children ages 3 through kindergarten will hear a story and make their own pizza and a dessert. Please register in person at the library, online at myfcpl.org/calendar, or by calling 765-654-8746.

Learn more about upcoming events and programs on our website, myfcpl.org.

Susie Blackmore is marketing and art coordinator for the Frankfort Community Public Library.
