Clinton Prairie athletic facilities are getting a few upgrades

By AARON KENNEDY - akennedy@ftimes.com

A few upgrades are currently being made to some of the athletic facilities at Clinton Prairie Junior-Senior High School.

Inside the school, the field house and main gymnasium are being outfitted with new, LED lighting, and the court in the main gymnasium is also getting a tough-up paint job.

“The LED lighting should be brighter and more energy efficient than before,” Clinton Prairie athletic director Brian Eaton said. “We also have a couple minor renovations where bathrooms that were not really used are being turned into athletic storage. And we are now using Final Forms software to do online document storage for all of our physicals, concussion acknowledgement forms – anything that is IHSAA-mandated. Everything is moved online for that now instead of on paper.”

As for the outdoor athletic facilities, a new sound system is being installed at the football stadium.

“We just installed speakers and a new sound system yesterday, and we are still playing with that and trying to have it sound its best. We hope to use the old system at the softball facility, which will be an upgrade for theirs as well.”

Eaton says the upgrades are paid for out of the general athletic fund along with funds raised by the recent golf outing while some items, such as the waxing of gym floors, is paid for by the school corporation.

“We also have donations made in memory of Bryson Haynes for the football sound system,” Eaton added. “Clinton Prairie Youth Football is also chipping-in a little bit on that job as well.

“Everything will be ready to go (by the start of school),” he added. “The storage areas may not be quite ready yet, but anything that would impact a team should be finished.”
