Porter Kelley finished nine holes at Elwood Golf Links in 57 strokes Wednesday to earn medalist honors and lead the Clinton Prairie girls’ golf team to a win over the Elwood Panthers and Taylor Titans.

Clinton Prairie put together a four-golfer score of 234 strokes to edge the Panthers by six strokes while the Titans were two golfers short of being able to post an official score.

“The course is only a year old, so it has some rough areas around the greens and fairways,” Clinton Prairie head coach Jim Cullom said. “It is a very challenging layout with rolling hills and valleys on five of the holes. The greens were in good shape and fast.”

Following Porter’s medalist performance, Tatum Neal, Emma Price and Layne Snyder each completed the nine holes at 59 strokes. Clinton Prairie freshman Tynlie Neal shot a 61 while Maddie Swinford carded a 65, and Kaitlyn Jarrett finished with a 71.

The Gophers take on the Frankfort Hot Dogs, Rossville Hornets and Clinton Central Bulldogs starting at 9 a.m. Saturday in the annual Clinton County Tournament at Frankfort Commons Golf Course.
