Frankfort volleyball wins tourney

Frankfort volleyball won the Twin Lakes Invitational on Saturday, losing a single set in four matches.

The Hot Dogs topped host Twin Lakes, 25-11, 25-17; Western, 25-10, 20-25, 18-16; Rochester, 25-19, 25-14; and Rensselaer Central, 25-23, 25-13, to take the tournament.

Frankfort was led by Ashley Timmons, who had 33 kills, three aces and 27 digs for the tournament. Kimee Kingma followed her in kills with 28, adding seven digs.

Riley Isgrigg led Frankfort in assists with 97, along with 13 kills, four aces and 16 digs. Avery Drew hit the most aces with eight and had a team high in digs with 48, also adding two assists.

Other contributors to the championship were Chloe Roberts (18 kills, four aces, 23 digs), Emily Michael (15 kills and six digs), Lindsey Gay (three aces and 24 digs), Jenna Rockhold (one kill, five digs and an assist) and Allyson Timmons (five kills).

The four-match sweep of the tournament moved the Hot Dogs record to 18-11.

Prairie volleyball takes 2nd at own tourney

Clinton Prairie finished second at its own volleyball invitational on Saturday, winning three out of four matches and improving its record to 18-15.

The Gophers topped North White, 25-22, 25-20; Tri Central, 25-19, 25-20; and Eastern, 25-16, 25-17. Clinton Prairie fell to tourney champion Greencastle in three sets, 25-16, 24-26, 7-15.

Alyssa Lukasik led the Gophers in kills with 46, adding six aces and six digs. Kylie Rapp paced the team in assists with 69, with two aces, a kill and six digs.

Other contributors were Kylee Maish (17 kills, two assists, two aces and 19 digs), Sarah Schoonveld (seven kills, two assists, seven aces and 10 digs), Hannah Wilson (25 digs, a kill and an ace), Hadley Wilson (24 digs and an ace) and Lexi Collins (five kills, an assist, five aces and two digs).

Jaylnn Gleb had three kills and an assist, while Grace Anes had an ace and six digs. Keyra Fisher provided four digs and Victoria Florence and Caydence Rios had one each.

Prairie volleyball wins, Rossville 2nd in 8th grade county tourney

Clinton Prairie defeated Rossville in three sets on Saturday to win the 8th Grade County Volleyball Tournament.

Prairie won the final match 25-21, 23-25, 15-4. For Rossville, Demi Freeman led the Hornets with 11 points on serve. No stats were provided for the Gophers.

Rossville topped Clinton Central, 25-12, 25-20, earlier in the day with Hornets’ Kymberly Oliver and Rylee Longenecker each winning 10 points on serve.

On Monday, the Hornets finished their season topping Central again 25-19, 25-7 at home.

Marley Roberts and Kylan Bogan each won 10 points on serve, with Prairie also taking the B-team match winning the single set 25-13. Longenecker had nine service wins in the B match.
