Lois 'Aleta' Gillum April 16, 1923 - Jan. 4, 2019

Lois “Aleta” Gillum, 95, of Frankfort, passed away on Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Aperion Care in Frankfort. She was born April 16, 1923, in Yuma County, Colo., to Vernon and Ethel (Jones) Sheldon. On Dec. 23, 1942, she married Simon Albert Gillum; he preceded her in death on May 19, 2006.

Aleta graduated high school from Bible College school in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Aleta had been a member of the Wesleyan Church since 1950.

Surviving Aleta are her children, Yvonn Hale, of Michigantown, Alice (Walter) Wilson, of Daleville, Evelyn Whipple, of West Lafayette, and Vernon (Rebecca) Gillum, of Kokomo; 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Aleta is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, LaVern Sheldon; one great grandchild, and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at First Wesleyan Church in Frankfort, from 11 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
