86th family reunion

The 86th annual Corwin/Curt/Neideffer family reunion was held Sunday, Aug. 18, 2019 at the Frankfort TPA Park. This family began in 1888 with the marriage of Squire Joseph Corwin to Alzora Curts in Clinton County. After the death of Alzora, Corwin married Hettie Neideffer in Scott County. In this blended family, 19 children were born.

This year, 32 people attended the reunion. Donna Ridenour of Kirklin and Suellen Myers of Frankfort co-hosted the event.

There were three births reported: Ryan Alexander Torres, Karsyn Presley McClannen and Margaret Elizabeth Rees. Two deaths were reported: Marie Crownover Helzer of Wheatfield and Don Graham of Lebanon.

Olivia Petre Frye, 4, was the youngest person in attendance, and Helen Petre of Frankfort, 91, was the oldest person in attendance. Bob Corwin of Deland, Fla. traveled the farthest for the reunion. Other out-of-state guests traveled from Louisville, Ky. and Alexandria, Va.

The Bea Corwin Robertson clan had the most people in attendance with 12. Ralph Robertson, 89, of Thorntown, was the oldest Robertson present. The youngest Robertson was Mason Robertson, 15, of Colfax.

Gerald Rice of Sharpsville was a first-time guest this year. He is a great-grandson of Sarah Frances Corwin Rice, sister of Squire Joseph Corwin.

Plans are being made for the family to gather again on Aug. 16, 2020.
