Rossville comeback falls short against Western

Rossville battled back from two games down in volleyball on Tuesday before losing 22-25, 20-25, 26-24, 26-24, 15-17 to visiting Western.

Individual stats were not immediately available for the Hornets. Junior Hilary Merica led the Panthers with 19 kills in the match.

Rossville fell to 1-9 with the loss, while Western improved to 5-1. The Hornets next visit Delphi tonight for a 6 p.m. match.

Clinton Central falls to Northwestern

Clinton Central lost in straight games to host Northwestern in volleyball on Tuesday, with the Tigers led by Madison Layden’s 18 kills and 10 digs.

Northwestern improved to 11-2 with the win, while Clinton Central fell to 2-6. Individual stats were not immediately available for Central.

The Bulldogs next visit Tipton at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Boys soccer

Carroll tops the Hornets

Rossville lost 5-0 to visiting Carroll in boys soccer on Tuesday, with the match delayed more than an hour by lightning in the area.

Carroll led 2-0 when play was stopped on their way to a 5-0 halftime lead, with neither team scoring in the second half.

Ethan Duff scored three goals for the Cougars, with Rossville goalie Jarrett Barbour making six saves in the contest. Carroll had 15 shots on goal compared to two for Rossville.

The Hornets visit Benton Central tonight starting at 5 p.m. as the first game of a boys-girls doubleheader.

Hot Dogs lose to WEBO

Frankfort lost a conference tennis meet, 5-0, to visiting Western Boone on Tuesday.

The Hot Dogs’ Chase Thomas had the most competitive match at No. 3 singles, losing to Zach Collins, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5 ). Noah Wilder and Jim Ostler both lost by 6-0, 6-0 scores at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively. Elijah West and Carter Wilson fell by the same scores at No. 2 doubles, while Riley Grasham and Luke Hodge lost 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

The Hot Dogs next visit Kokomo on Monday with play beginning at 5 p.m.

Girls golf

Cesare, Shipley share medalist as Hot Dogs win

Frankfort beat visiting West Lafayette, 205-207, at Frankfort Commons in girls golf on Thursday.

The Hot Dogs’ Sydney Cesare and Emilee Shipley shared medalist honors with each shooting a 43. Raelyn Mitchell finished with a 57 and Karleigh Bessler a 62 to complete Frankfort’s team score. Tori Hopkins had a 64 and Samantha Sharp a 67, which were not included in the team total.
