Beltran scores 4 goals in Hot Dog win

Frankfort beat visiting Eastern, 6-1, in boys soccer on Thursday, improving their record to 4-2 with the win.

The Hot Dogs got on the board early in the match with an Alex Beltran goal six minutes into it. Beltran completed a hat trick in the first half, adding two more goals on assists by Brian Chavez and Noel Mora respectively, for a 3-0 Hot Dog lead at the break.

Beltran added a fourth goal before Daniel Mejia put Frankfort up 5-0 on a header off a corner kick by Leo Mejia. Sophomore Christian Mejia scored the Hot Dogs’ final goal on a penalty kick, with Eastern adding a goal off a corner kick late to avoid the shutout.

Frankfort next hosts Sagamore Conference opponent Western Boone on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Rossville falls to Benton Central

Rossville lost 4-0 to host Benton Central in boys soccer on Thursday, falling to 0-7 on the season.

Eli Holden and Gabe Spear had four steals each on the night for the Hornets, with freshman Steven Remaly making eight saves in goal.

Benton Central led 2-0 at halftime before doubling their advantage in the second half.

The Hornets next visit Hoosier Heartland Conference opponent Tri-Central on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.

Volleyball

Prairie loses in 3 to Knights

Clinton Prairie lost in three-straight games to host Lafayette Central Catholic on Thursday in volleyball, dropping their record to 3-8 on the season.

The Knights prevailed, 25-18, 25-19, 25-13, to secure the match.

Kylee Maish led Prairie with six kills, adding three blocks and seven digs. Sydney Swan had a team-high 10 digs, with one kill, an assist and two blocks, while Hannah Wilson led the squad with 11 assists, registering two kills, a block and eight digs.

Lexi Collins had a team-high four blocks, with a kill and a dig. Other contributors included Jalynn Gleb (three kills and two digs), Keyra Fisher (a kill, an assist and two digs), Victoria Florence (an assist and a dig), Claire Ecenbarger (a block and five digs), Caydence Rios (seven digs) and Grace Carter (two digs).

On Wednesday, the Gophers lost at McCutcheon, 25-9, 25-6, 25-17, as Prairie goes through a brutal stretch of their schedule. Collins and Swan led the Gophers with three kills each in that match, with Wilson having a team-high eight assists, Swan registering the only block and Maish leading them in digs with 11.

Prairie hosts its own invitational today starting at 9 a.m.

Red Devils outlast Hot Dogs

Frankfort lost in four games to visiting West Lafayette in volleyball on Thursday after winning the first.

The Red Devils came back to take the match, 17-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-18.

Ashley Timmons led the Hot Dogs with 17 kills and 26 digs, adding a service ace and a block. Lindsey Gay had a team-high 34 assists, with 21 digs, an ace and five kills.

Other contributors were Chloe Roberts (10 kills,team-high three aces, 19 digs and an assist), Allyson Timmons (six kills and a block), Morgan Adamson (five kills, a solo block and four digs), Tarah Martinez (two kills and 14 digs), Maicee Sterrett (13 digs) and Kylie Norman (12 digs).

The Hot Dogs fell to 5-4 with the loss, with their next match at home against conference opponent Tri-West on Wednesday at 6 p.m. West Lafayette improved to 8-2 with the win.

Girls golf

Central tops Rossville in rematch

Clinton Central beat visiting Rossville, 212-239, at the Frankfort Commons course on Wednesday, reversing the result at Rossville’s home course, Angel Hill, last week.

The Bulldogs' Hannah McQuinn took medalist honors with a 47, with Addy Sheets shooting a 48 and Kailie Burnette a 56. Other individual scores were not made available.

The Bulldogs play today at the Ulen Invite, while the Hornets visit Lafayette Jeff at the Battle Ground Golf Course today at 9 a.m.

Hot Dogs finish second in tri-match

Frankfort shot a 226 in a tri-match with Crawfordsville and host Hamilton Heights on Thursday, with the Hot Dogs topping Crawfordsville (237) and falling to Heights (201).

Sydney Cesare led the Hot Dogs with a 51, with Emilee Shipley right behind at 52. Samantha Sharp carded a 60 and Tori Hopkins a 63 to complete Frankfort’s team score. Raelyn Mitchell shot a 67 that was not included in the team score.

Frankfort plays in the Ulen Invite today starting at 8:30 a.m.

Girls soccer

Rossville edged by Benton Central

Rossville lost to host Benton Central, 3-2, in girls soccer on Thursday night.

The Bison scored two goals to the Hornets’ one in the second half to get the victory. Madison Miller scored both of the Hornets' goals. 

Rossville fell to 2-5 on the season with the loss. They next host Lafayette Central Catholic at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
