Danville edges Hot Dogs 1-0 in girls soccer

Frankfort gave conference champion Danville all they could handle in girls soccer on Wednesday before the visiting Warriors escaped with a 1-0 win.

The win gave Danville (10-5-1) the Sagamore Conference championship with a perfect 7-0 conference record. Tri-West (13-1-1, 6-1) had the only shot of tying the Warriors. The match against a quality opponent was encouraging for a Frankfort team that has struggled since opening the year 3-1-1 before dropping to 3-11-1 with 10 straight losses. The Hot Dogs finished 1-6 in the conference.

On Wednesday, Frankfort and Danville battled to a scoreless tie through the first half. A Rory Teel goal in the second half stood up to give the Warriors the win.

Frankfort starts sectional play at 5 p.m. Tuesday against North Montgomery at Crawfordsville. The winner of that match will play the winner of Danville and Greencastle at 5 p.m. Thursday in one sectional semifinal.
