39th annual Fine Art Exhibition and Sale

The Friends of the Frankfort Library invite you to their 39th annual Fine Art Exhibition and Sale, “The Gem City,” on Nov. 8, 9 and 10 in the Anna & Harlan Hubbard Gallery on the second floor of the Frankfort Community Public Library at 208 W. Photos needed for Memory Wall at Fairgrounds

The Clinton County Fair Council is asking the community to loan photos that “reflect on the rich heritage of the fairgrounds. Of special interest are photos of the old wooden grandstand which burned in the late ’60s, the Home Ec Building, which burned in the early ’70s, and any other structures that are no longer standing at the fairgrounds. Images files in a .jpeg format may be emailed to fair@clintonco.com. Those with photos on disk, 35mm slides or prints may notify the council of their availability by emailing fair@clintonco.com.

Saturday Night Dinners at Post #12

Saturday night dinners at Frankfort American Legion Post #12 are open to the public from 5-7 p.m. at 451 W. Clinton St. Dinners range in price from $8.50 to $14.50 on a menu that includes ribeye steak, ham steak, hamburger steak, 7-piece shrimp dinner, haddock fish fillets and whole catfish. Dinners include a side salad and your choice of baked potato, fries, onion rings or coleslaw.

Rock Steady Boxing offered at the Y

In partnership with Witham Health Services, the Clinton County Family YMCA is offering Rock Steady Boxing to people living with Parkinson’s Disease. Though it may seem surprising, this non-contact, boxing-inspired fitness routine is dramatically improving the ability of people with Parkinson’s to live independent lives. The program is offered at the Y on Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:15-1:15 p.m. To learn more about the program please call the Y at 654-9622.

Flag drop-off moved to VFW

Moved out of Veterans Park after fire destroyed the adjacent property at 50 W. Washington St. in Frankfort, the flag drop-off box is now located in the lobby of VFW Post 1110 at 309 N Main Street in Frankfort. The drop-off box is for flags that need to be retired.

Mulberry Stone Soup Food Pantry

The Mulberry Stone Soup Food Pantry is open each month on the third Monday (4-6 p.m.) and the third Tuesday (9-11 a.m.) in the Faye Snyder Resource Center, 114 N. Main Street, Mulberry. The pantry is open to residents of Madison Township and/or members of the three sponsoring churches: Mulberry United Methodist Church, Trinity Church of Mulberry and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Donations are always welcome and can be dropped off at Mulberry Library, one of the sponsoring churches or during open food pantry hours.

Now enrolling for preschool and child care

The Clinton County Family YMCA’s early learning program, Learning Ladder Early Learning Preschool and Child Care is a combination of child care with preschool program. Openings are available in the 3-, 4- and 5-year-old classrooms. The program is offered daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; however, care is available 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The curriculum Learning Ladder uses is research-based Creative Curriculum. The comprehensive research based curriculum features exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity and lifelong critical-thinking skills. This curriculum was chosen because it focuses on the skills and knowledge that are most important for helping your child to be successful in school. Throughout the year, the Creative Curriculum for Preschool will help plan learning experiences that are just right for your child, so that he or she can make progress at his or her own pace.
