'Math-a-thon' raises funds for Thomas children

MATH-A-THON: Students in math classes at Rossville Middle-Senior High School raised money for a cause close to the school’s heart during their Nov. 25 “Math-a-thon.” The contest, which was organized by match teacher Brenda Loveless, consisted of solving as many multi-step equations and fraction problems as possible. Before the actual competition, students completed pledge sheets, where people pledged a certain amount of money per problem/equation. After the competition, students calculated how much money they needed to collect from each pledge according to how many correct answers they had. All money collected will be donated to the college funds of Mr. Brian Thomas’s two children. Mr. Thomas was the Rossville chemistry teacher who was killed in an automobile accident on Nov. 1.
