Determined to continue its long tradition of providing scholarships to county graduates, the Purdue Club of Clinton County gathered at the large shelter at TPA Park on Tuesday to recognize this year’s crop of scholarship recipients. The casual meeting at the park took the place of the club’s annual golf outing and scholarship dinner – which was canceled due to the ongoing pandemic – and featured boxed meals from Shoup’s.
“As you know, these kids have put in 12 years of school, and this year being exceptionally odd as far as graduations, celebrations and things like that,” said Phil Burkle, president of the PC3. “We thought it was still important to get them together and recognize them in front of their peers and in front of the club and board of directors. That is why we decided to do this.
