Sheriff's Office confirms investigation at local church

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office released a statement confirming an active investigation at Faith Family Church on Thursday following extensive community requests for more information.

On Thursday just before 9 a.m., local journalist of Clinton County Today Brett Todd released a “breaking news” post on social media regarding the instance of law enforcement vehicles at Faith Family Church at 508 W. Green St. in Frankfort.

Todd stated that officers conducting the active investigation refused comment at the time of the incident, but he took to social media to continue posting updates as they became available. Just after 9 a.m., Todd reported that an officer was observed walking around the exterior of the church and photographing the area. Just after 10:30 a.m., Todd reported that the Clinton County Sheriff command trailer left the premises while a few officers remained in the area.

The Sheriff’s Office released a statement regarding the situation just before 3 p.m. on Thursday confirming the legitimacy of the report to address community requests for further information on Todd’s original post on social media.

“Regarding an incident that occurred this morning, Jan. 12, 2023, Sheriff Kelly confirms that a search warrant took place at the property of Faith Family Church, 508 W. Green Street, Frankfort,” posted the Sheriff’s Office. “This is an ongoing investigation. No other information will be released at this time. Any questions should be directed to the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.”

No further information has been released by law enforcement or other entities as of 10 a.m. on Friday due to the active status of the investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
