Christine Snyder, 80, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2020 surrounded by a loving extended family. She was born Oct. 26, 1939 in Monticello, Kentucky, daughter of Elza and Clara Martin (preceded in death in 1970 and 2010), twin sister of Ilene White (preceded in death in 2006), and loving sister of Donnie Joe Martin (1969-Vietnam), Edwin Martin (1997), Tony Martin (2017), and surviving siblings Midge Smith, Lou Sellers, Peggy Day, Gloria Clinger, Junior Martin and Ruth Matthews.
At age 11, Elza and Clara moved Christine and their family from Kentucky to Michigantown, where the family lived and worked on a farm. At 21 she met Ron “Ronnie” Snyder (preceded in death in 1982) at a gas station, where after filling her tank he pursued her, and within a year they were married on March 2, 1962. Moving to Frankfort, they raised five surviving children, Ronald T. Snyder, Rhonda B. Haan, Larry D. Snyder, Amy L. Snyder and Jody S. Allen.
Christine was a loving and devoted grandmother to five grandchildren and aunt to 50-plus nieces and nephews. She enjoyed Yahtzee and puzzles, and her fondest memories were the large family gatherings or late-night summer evenings she spent on the porch with Ronnie and any number of visiting siblings. She was a selfless person who always put others first. She spent her later years living with Ilene and then Midge, which reunited a tight relationship between the sisters.
