The Clinton Central boys golf team won the Caston Invitational on Saturday at Pond View Golf Course in Star City after shooting a 409 to lead the nine-team field. The early morning temperature and frost on the greens delayed the 9 a.m. start about 30 minutes.
“The team continues to make improvements each week,” head coach Kimberly Deck said. “It has been encouraging to watch the team compete this season. There are many individuals on the team competing for the No. 4 and No. 5 spot each week.”
Mike Harness shot the third-best individual score of the tournament, leading the Bulldogs with a 91 while Hunter Salem shot a 104, Kyle Pickard carded a 105, and Logan Whiteman rounded out the four-man combined score with a 109.
Caston finished second in its home tournament after shooting a 417. They were followed by third-place Morgan Township (429), Bethany Christian (430), Carroll (437), Delphi (442), Pioneer (457), Tri-County (493) and West Central (513).
The Bulldogs play in a three-way match with University and Sheridan on Thursday at Cool Lake.
