The Clinton Central girls basketball team earned its first sectional championship since 1997 by defeating the Class 1A North Vermillion Falcons, 62-38, Saturday night at Attica.
The Bulldogs grabbed control of the championship game early, leading 23-3 by the start of the second quarter.
Four Clinton Central players scored in double figures.
Sam Adams led the Bulldogs with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal. Sara Parkison added 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists while Kendall Davison had 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal. Allison Robbins scored 10 points to go with six rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and four steals. Addy Sheets scored four points while adding three rebounds, three assists and three steals in the championship. Erika Robbins finished with three points, a rebound, an assist, a block and a steal while Autum Long contributed two points.
The Bulldogs shot 10-of-12 from the free throw line in the big win.
Clinton Central advances to the Wes-Del Regional where they will take on Northfield at noon Saturday.
