Rossville bowed out of the Sheridan Class 2A girls sectional Friday with a 53-34 semifinal loss to Class 2A No. 10-ranked and eventual champion Lafayette Central Catholic, but they put a scare into the Knights early before Central Catholic finished the first quarter strong for a 13-10 first quarter advantage.

“I think we had a 9-2 run to start the game and I was really proud of our kids,” Rossville head coach Chad Geheb said. “We always talk about throwing the first punch and then we talk about that teams counter-punch and you have to punch back. Obviously, Central Catholic is a very good team and they counter-punched like we thought.”
